Halloween Hollow is here

A new Halloween map: a haunted house, candy stalls, bubbling cauldrons, a witch on a broomstick — and zombies that go after both teams.

Halloween has come to the snowfields. Halloween Hollow is a purple night map built around a crooked haunted house, and it brings something new to every match: zombies.

The map

The haunted house stands in the middle, with glowing windows and a pumpkin lantern on the porch. Four candy stalls surround it — hit one with a few snowballs and it drops supplies — and two bubbling cauldrons sit on either side. Stand next to a cauldron to slowly heal, as long as nobody has hit you in the last couple of seconds.

The two teams start in opposite corners. The other two corners belong to the dead: a fenced graveyard in one, a pumpkin patch in the other. Both are the same distance from each team’s start, so neither side gets an easier time.

Zombies

Zombies crawl out of the graves and the pumpkin patch — the ones from the patch wear pumpkins on their heads. Each area has up to two at a time. They chase anyone who wanders close, red or blue, and give up once you leave their area.

  • They are slower than you, so you can always walk away.
  • A zombie raises its arms for half a second before it swipes. Step back and it misses.
  • Knock one down and you earn a few snowflakes. Zombie knockouts do not count towards the leaderboard, so they will not change the rankings.

Lead a zombie into the other team and then walk off. It works more often than it should.

Look up

Every couple of minutes a witch crosses the sky on her broomstick, trailing purple sparkles and cackling, with a little black cat riding on the back. Bats circle above the graveyard, and a few black cats keep watch from the gravestones.

Halloween Hollow is in the map rotation all year, but you will see it most in October and November. The game runs on desktop browsers — no download needed.
